Volunteer training week

Volunteer training week prepares new and returning volunteers for public-facing roles throughout the History Center, including gallery interpretation, school group support, tours, education programs and visitor engagement. Participants will learn how to share exhibit content, lead conversations in the galleries and support guests of all ages as they explore the people, places and events that shaped our region. This training is designed for volunteers who enjoy history, community and conversation. Public-facing roles are especially well suited for those who are comfortable working with children and adults, speaking with visitors, standing for two-hour shifts and helping lead tours through the galleries. Throughout the week, volunteers will receive exhibit-specific training, develop practical visitor engagement skills and learn how to support the History Center’s educational mission. The experience also offers a chance to meet like-minded peers, connect with museum staff and become part of a service-oriented community rooted in local history.
