Charity Market at Wat Tampa (Thai Temple)
Every Sunday, the grounds of Wat Mongkolratanaram — the ornate Thai Buddhist temple known as "Wat Tampa," set along the Palm River beneath live oaks — become a beloved open-air Thai food market. For roughly 30 years, temple volunteers have cooked and served authentic Thai dishes, sweets and refreshments, with proceeds supporting the temple. Browse dozens of vendors offering curries, noodles, grilled favorites, desserts, orchids and more, then eat riverside at communal tables. Free admission; the market is cash only. It runs rain or shine, roughly 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — arrive before 11 a.m. to beat the lines and the busiest crowds. A relaxed, family-friendly outing that doubles as a cultural experience.
